HUD: Good Neighbor Next Door Financing Program
The Good Neighbor Next Door financing program is a neighborhood revitalization initiative provided through HUD. The initiative is designed to encourage law enforcement officers, eligible teachers, firefighters, and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) to live in the low- and moderate-income neighborhoods where they work.Under this initiative, eligible borrowers purchase HUD-acquired homes located in HUD-designated revitalization areas: at a 50% discount from the list price; with a down payment of $100 (applies only if FHA financing is used).HUD places a 50%, zero-interest, forgivable, second mortgage on the property.
