The Pittsburgh Project: Home Improvement Services for Elderly and Those with Disabilities
The Pittsburgh Project Home Repair Ministry deploys more than 2,000 volunteers (mostly middle and high school students), along with technical support to provide minor repairs including: painting, drywall and carpentry for owner-occupied homes of those who physically or financially cannot do the work themselves. Additional Information: Qualifying participants must be age 60 or older, live in the City of Pittsburgh or certain neighboring boroughs, and must document that their household’s income was at or below 150 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines for the previous 12 months, or that they have a documented disability. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Decisions are made by February for the following year. The majority of services are provided during the summer months.
